Hiking

Below are some of our go-to hiking spots. You certainly don't have to travel far from the house to find world class hiking!  Long Trail access points are within 10 minutes from the house.

Sterling Pond Trail

Sterling Pond trail access is an 8 minute drive from the house.  This hike is short but steep.  It is a very popular hike in the area, so be sure to arrive early morning or in the afternoon to ensure parking at the trail head.

Mount Mansfield

The best trails accessing Mount Mansfield are in Underhill State Park which is a 22 minute drive from the house.  Sunset Ridge is the most popular route with multiple vistas through out the ascent.

Camel's Hump

The Camel's Hump trail head is about 45 minutes to an hour away from the house.  If driving this way in the summer, then try driving through Stowe/Waterbury for refreshments after the hike.  Richmond is also a great little town to check out.

Belvidere Mountain

Belvidere Mountain is part of the Long Trail State Forest and the trail head is roughly 30 minutes from the house.  This hike is much less crowded and more off the beaten path than the major peaks listed on this page.

Mount Pisgah

Mount Pisgah is a great add on to the Lake Willoughby day trip, roughly an hour and 20 minute drive from the house.

Smugglers Notch Boardwalk

Smugglers Notch Boardwalk is ADA accessbile and family friendly.  Located just through the Notch Road about 15 minutes away from the house.
